Hamas Gains Allure in Gaza, but Money Is a Problem

Tyler Hicks/The New York Times
Gaza residents returned to survey the damage to their homes last month after a cease-fire ended the eight-day clash between Israel and Hamas.

Hamas has been riding high of late, after its professed victory in the recent conflict with Israel and the overthrow last year of Egypt’s president, Hosni Mubarak, an avowed enemy.

Neocons, wearing jackboots, are suddenly on the defensive over Hagel

The Chuck Hagel debate has moved into a new phase: the neoconservatives are completely on the defensive. NYT op-eds by Tom Friedman ("Give Chuck a Chance") and James Besser ("Don't Let Pro-Israel Extremists Sink Chuck Hagel") have now successfully positioned Hagel as a centrist being attacked by extremists. And the neoconservatives have got their back up, as you will see below.

American Jewish Committee Demonstrates That Lobby Effort To Sink Hagel Has Backfired

their dreams of never-ending occupation will be dashed.
by: MJ Rosenberg on December 29th, 2012

At this point, it is still not clear who will be appointed Secretary of Defense. I continue to believe that former Senator Chuck Hagel will not get the job because President Obama has never said “no” to the lobby about anything. And the lobby (whether you call it the Israel Lobby or the Jewish Lobby) has never been as united about any internal U.S. matter as it is about stopping Hagel. My guess is that Obama will choose former Pentagon official, Michele Flournoy, in the hope that the excitement about a woman as Defense secretary will make observers forget that she only got the appointment because Obama was afraid to take on AIPAC.

Stepping over the line by accident: Still possible, ever more disturbing

A stroll west of West Jerusalem can lead to a surprising discovery, confronting the casual walker with various layers of the Palestinian tragedy.

I just finished an ordeal at the Knesset. The next thing on the agenda was a long phone call, one that would last for at least an hour. Instead of walking about West Jerusalem for an hour, I decided to begin heading west on foot.

E1 Not Israeli Territory

The controversy surrounding the government's decision to promote the construction of thousands of housing units in the E1 zone, which will connect Ma'ale Adumim and Jerusalem and cut through the West Bank, is viewed by pundits and politicians alike as a serious diplomatic problem, but not a legal one.

The Settlement That Broke the Two-State Solution

Ma'aleh Adumim symbolizes why Middle East peace may no longer be possible.

MA'ALEH ADUMIM, West Bank — When you drive out on the highway to the West Bank settlement of Ma'aleh Adumim from Jerusalem, you're driving through big sky country. After passing Jerusalem's new Jewish neighborhoods and old Arab villages, all you've got on either side of you are the soft hills of the Judean desert.

Don’t Let Pro-Israel Extremists Sink Chuck Hagel

POLITICAL movements that depend on broad popular support but are driven by extremists can eventually become self-destructive — a lesson the Republican Party learned at great cost in November, and which the gun-rights lobby may be about to learn in the wake of the latest school shooting.

Israel wants concessions but to give any in return

Amira Hass: The anti-Semitism that goes unreported

Tens of thousands of people live in the shadow of terror

Here’s a statistic that you won’t see in research on anti-Semitism, no matter how meticulous the study is. In the first six months of the year, 154 anti-Semitic assaults have been recorded, 45 of them around one village alone. Some fear that last year’s record high of 411 attacks – significantly more than the 312 attacks in 2010 and 168 in 2009 – could be broken this year.

Six and a half years go, shortly after Hamas won the Palestinian national elections and took charge of Gaza, a senior Israeli official described Israel’s planned response. “The idea,” he said, “is to put the Palestinians on a diet, but not to make them die of hunger.”

Israeli death squads involved in Sandy Hook bloodbath: Intelligence analyst

Days later, the Sandy Hook Massacre, the iconic slaughter of twenty small children, is now looking like a terrorist attack, not a “murder suicide.” Was “lone gunman” Adam Lanza a “patsy,” the same word Lee Harvey Oswald used to describe himself before being “silenced” in November 1963?

Children of any race and or belief have the Divine RIGHT to live and enjoy peace

Give a CHILD of the WORLD that chance to enjoy life as well. STOP HATE, STOP KILLING (guns are the tools only)

The baby of the picture was killed about 4 we
eks ago and there are over 80+ killed during within a week. A gorgeous child that remains in my mind was cruelly burnt to death and nobody screamed their governments to stop the killing, most of them tottlers.

The same for this young boy, two days ago the 17yro was killed and nobody said anything, the killing continues.

But the killing has moved into sacred lands and the whole world is revolting about it...

Think about it, where does the idea start? The root has to be stopped from growing, if you care about the US kids then you must be ready to ask for all the children of the world as well.

US drones are loaded with bombs to kill children and some of them victims are US people. But politics have always an excuse because people of the world are not willing to scream loud.

It is time to pay more attention to "who" created hate and why:

CHILDREN killed for what?
Now, father Obama's speech of how sad makes no sense as his drones are killing more innocent people around the world, hate is the worse weapon used against children...  SPEAK for them as well please,

STOP THE WARS, stop the hate please.

Why I Boycott Israel

Sydney University academic Jake Lynch has come under fire this week for his stance on Israel. Today he argues his case: Palestinians and dissenting Israelis need international support to achieve justice

Congressman Berman’s Last Gasp At Punishing Palestinians

At first glance, the only thing surprising about the Congressional letter demanding that the Palestinians be punished for taking their case to the United Nations is that AIPAC’s role in producing it is stated openly. The cover letter to House members asking for their signatures (from a staffer working for House Foreign Affairs Committee chair, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen) reads as follows:

The Main Purveyors of Islamophobia

The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2011 are often cited as the roots of “Islamophobia” in the United States. However, attributing Americans’ Islamophobia solely to the events of 9/11 ignores the anti-Muslim propaganda that predated the attacks, and that continues today.

‘J Street’ and ‘Peace Now’ say it’s now or never for Obama to bring Netanyahu to heel

The two liberal Zionist organizations J Street and Americans for Peace Now are demanding that the Obama administration condemn the recent Israeli announcement of a new settlement bloc in the West Bank. Tell President Obama: Stand up for a two-state solution and demand a reversal to the E1 settlements.

Why Israel-Palestine Peace Process Failed

The most significant problem with the peace process was foundational. The process, a series of diplomatic exchanges and negotiations supposedly aimed at lasting Israeli-Palestinian peace, was based on a land-for-peace formula brokered by American mediation.

Unaccountable Israeli Lobby dictates US foreign policy

Special report: Inside the Israeli lobby

The Israeli Lobby. It is a term that brings up images of an entity of near-mythic strength that seems to influence all branches of US policy and has an inside track to prominent US politicians, whether Republican or Democrat. It is credited with the power to make or break Presidents and dictate US foreign policy. Unaccountable and impossible to fight, it is seen in Pakistan and in large parts of the Muslim world as the driving force behind the United States’ pro-Israel stance.

Israel strikes Gaza violating ceasefire - reports

Breaking news Published: 02 December, 2012, 03:26

At least four Palestinians have been injured after Israel reportedly shelled a residential area in Gaza Strip, thus violating fragile ceasefire. This comes after the UN voted to upgrade the Palestinians to a ‘non-member observer state.’

Gaza-based filmmaker and activist Harry Fear told RT that two people were critically injured with one of them being announced 'clinically dead' at Shifa Hospital.

The attack in East Deir Al-Balah occurred around 22:00 GMT. Reports from local media suggest it was a tank shelling attack. So far there has been no reaction from Hamas.

Israel's Violence on Palestenians

Right to Defend itself

Israel has always cried 'holocaust' tears to the world while singing the old tune of "Defending itself and its citizens". How do they do it? By banning or killing international journalists by bribing their supportive governments. Palestine is destroyed as a State so is Gaza. Meanwhile the "chronically suffering Israel" has developed to a point it does not need Uncle Sam anymore, see their infrastructure, see their military development up to nuclear programs... and they are the eternal "poor" in need. -- --
